How we work

Our Process

Our aim is to give as much information as possible so that you understand our process from the beginning to the end. If you have any questions or queries at any point, let your consultant know and they will be delighted to help.

01

Getting to know you

The most important part of the process! Here we establish your childcare needs and your lifestyle. This information allows us to find a perfect nanny that will effortly fit into your household. Should you decide to add your details to a job specification form, our Consultants would like to have a brief discussion with you to introduce themselves and get a good feel for your specific needs.

02

The selection process

Now its over to us to headhunt and search for your perfect nanny. Many of our nannies have been working with us for many years and we understand their age range experience, expertise and capabilities when working with children and young people. In many cases when discussing your requirements we will have the perfect nanny in mind. In this instance we will contact many nannies directly. We also headhunt in order to be able to source your exacting requirements.

03

Time to meet

We aim to send over 3-5 candidates in the first instance. Now it is back to you to look through the candidate’s CV's and tell us who you would like to interview. It is important to know that many nannies are actively searching for a role and exceptional nannies will not be looking for long. We can arrange video calls or face to face interviews with your chosen nannies at a mutual time for both of you.

04

Interview feedback

Once all the interviews have been conducted we will contact you for feedback. This may be a time where you want to see further candidates or you have found that perfect nanny and would like to speak with them again. In some instances nannies are able to join you for a 1-2 day paid trial. This enables you to see how the nanny fits into your household.

05

Offers & contracts

When you have selected your perfect nanny you will discuss the offer with your consultant. Your consultant will send this to you in writing so that you can ensure all aspects of the offer are correct. Once you are happy, your consultant will send this in writing to the nanny. We will handle any negotiations (if any) directly between yourselves and your nanny. On the acceptance of an offer we will send you an employment contract that you can use and amend as you wish. We will also send you all the documentation we have for your nanny, including recent DBS check (or relevent Police check if overseas), 1st aid certificaton, qualification certificates and personal written references and our own verbal references. For overseas clients this is the time to arrange any visa's or work permits that may be required. For UK clients, we work with an amazing Nanny Payroll Specialists Nanny Matters who offer a wealth of information to help you overcome the tax minefield!

06

On going support

Throughout the probationary period you may have some queries you may want to raise with the nanny directly, or seek our assistance. Once your nanny has completed their probation our support doesn't stop there. We are here for our families and nannies for any employment questions that you may have, and if we are unable to assist we can signpost you in the right direction - just ask!

What we offer

Types of childcare

We dont just register nannies. We have an extensive variety of childcare professionals at our fingertips to suit all households!

Maternity Nurse

A Maternity nurse is booked many weeks before the birth to assist families with their new-born. They can take on a varied role ensuring that parents receive the best support and knowledge as possible. Many join a family from a few days up to around 12 weeks, and some families retain their maternity nurse for even longer depending on the babies needs and parents’ wishes. They may work 24 hours per day 6 days per week with a 4-hour break in either the morning or the afternoon. Breaks are negotiable for the family depending on the need for cover, e.g., if there is a school run in the afternoon it would be easier for the nurse to take her break in the morning. Some Maternity nurses are booked just for waking nights to ensure the family get a restful night’s sleep and baby is well looked after. Breastfeeding mums will be woken for feeds, or some families successfully express. Through many years of 1st hand experience Maternity Nurses are an invaluable wealth of knowledge to support breast and bottle feeding, medical concerns, sleep training and general support for new mums and parents.

Nanny

A nanny will care for children from birth to 8 years of age. Usually they would have a recognised level 3 childcare qualification and would generally not have teaching experience (see Governor & Governess), unqualified nannies will have gained their knowledge through 1st had experience caring for children. Nannies will carry out 'Nursery duties' depending on your requirements. Nursery duties include planning and preparing nutritious meals for the children (rarely will a nanny cook or the whole family). Weekly food shopping, laundry and ironing, cleaning the children's play areas and toys of under 1's, and planning and implementing age and stage related activities. The main role of a nanny is caring for the children. Nannies will not deep clean the family home e.g. vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, family laundry etc. We would advise families to have a cleaner or housekeeper for such tasks.

Rota Nannies

Rota nannies are nannies who work on a rotational schedule, typically 2 nannies alternating a few weeks to 1 month on and off duty. They are salaried and employed by the family. They are paid for their on AND off time. This type of arrangement can be beneficial for families who require round-the-clock childcare and ensure their nanny is well rested and not overworked.

As well as 24-hour cover, Rota nannies may be required to speak an extra language. It is not uncommon for families to have one nanny who speaks solely in English and the other nanny to speak solely in French. Depending on the family’s needs and the ages of the children, rota nannies will have a separate bedroom and bathroom within the family home when they are on duty and have separate accommodation or flights/transport provided when off duty. Rota nannies in the UK are classed as a shift worker and will accrue holiday.

Governors & Governesses

Governors & Governesses primarily focus on children's educational development, language development or are experts in supporting children with additional needs. They work with the school to identify specific areas of development, or through their own observations create their own lesson plans to support children. Many are qualified teachers and hold other relevant qualifications such as; Teaching english as a foreign or second language (TEFL / TESL). Governors/Governess salaries vary depending on their experience. Where nannies generally care for children throughout the Early Years, Governors and Governesses focus on children and young adults from 5 to 16 years of age. This may be a solution for you if you are looking to boost academic performance in a certain subject or require someone who can focus on the holistic development of children with an academic background.

Chaperones, Tutors & Mentors

Many families with busy lifestyles require a special kind of candidate. We have registered chaperones, tutor and mentors for older children and young people who are not in need of a nanny. Chaperones and mentors are generally employed for single parents and/or families with challenging work commitments. A live in or daily tutor may be employed to focus on a specific area of study, a whole curriculum or to develop a second language.
